The Tibetan Terrier is a medium-sized dog breed that was originated in the Himalayas of Tibet. It was used as a companion for holy man and herding dog for the livestock. It has a shaggy appearance and the ancient people believed it to be good luck, so it was never sold and only given to people as gifts.

The Tibetan Terrier was also used to control vermin and get rid of them. They are a very lively dog that does great as a family companion today. They are suited in an apartment as long as they get the exercise and space they need.

The temperament of the Tibetan Terrier is lively, active, and playful. Due to their playful nature, they make a great family companion. They are mixed with a little bit of fun and a sense of humor which makes it’s family laugh sometimes.

The Tibetan Terrier is an alert dog that will give an alarm if they sense anything unusual in the surrounding. Therefore, they can be taken as an excellent watchdog. However, due to their gentle nature, they do not do well as a guard dog.

The personality of the Tibetan Terrier is smart, friendly, and gentle. They are friendly with everyone, even with other canines. It thrives for human attention and does some fun activity to attract their attention. They are very sensitive to human emotion and are great at reading their mood. It is a smart dog that is easy to train as long as they get a firm leadership.

Training Tibetan Terrier is not a hard task as they are intelligent and catch instruction quickly. They need a firm and consistent leader who can treat them kindly. They do not respond well to harsh treatment and force hand. Therefore, train them gently and reward them with treats and a lot of vocal praises. This will encourage and motivate them to be focused on the training.

Tibetan Terrier does well with children and is a great playmate for them. They enjoy their company and can play all day long without getting tired. Although, Tibetan Terrier does not tolerate harsh behavior, so small kids need to be taught to behave around them and handle them kindly.

The Tibetan Terrier is not an aggressive dog but in fact, are very gentle and loving towards all human being. The only thing that can make them aggressive is unnecessary provoking and teasing. Therefore, they should not be provoked and teased as to avoid their aggression.

The Tibetan Terrier is suspicious of strangers, so when they see one approaching them, they will bark warning their owner. However, they do not show any kind of aggression towards them and if introduced properly, they get along with them pretty well. Early socialization is necessary so that it do not become shy around strangers and become welcoming of them.
