Borador is a mixed breed dog that originated from the cross between a Border Collie and a Labrador Retriever. They are medium to large canines that are highly intelligent, energetic, and outgoing. In addition, these breeds go by different names like Border Collie Lab and Border Lab.

This cute dog is an excellent companion for an active owner as can fit in any space. However, as active breeds, they need space to perform certain activities and to play around. If you are looking for a loyal, affectionate, and friendly dog, the Borador is the right one for you.

Origin and History

The Borador existed for a long time however, in the 2000s, they were intentionally mixed, likely in North America. Talking about Borador’s parents, the Labrador Retriever originated in the 1820s, while Border Collie around 1915.

As mentioned above they are a mix of Border Collie and Labrador Retriever. They were created to make smart and family-friendly dogs.

Behavior Traits of Borador

The Borador has a mixed behavior and personality from its two different parents. They are a caring, confident, independent, and intelligent breed that is eager to please their owner. Being a family-friendly breed, they are happy and excited to participate in any family events.

In addition, Borador can be a couch guy all day if it includes their loved ones. The friendly behavior of Borador isn’t suitable for being a watchdog as they become friends with strangers as well. Although being a sociable breed, Borador will bark to unexpected noise and make you alert on stranger arrival. In other words, with proper training, they can be good guard dogs.

Trainability

Due to their intelligence, Borador is an easy dog to train with proper guidance. But easy to train doesn’t mean they show well manner. They are relentless herder and need to teach the proper way to behave. During the training sessions, they can learn everything quickly but can be stubborn sometimes.

Therefore, be patient and use positive reinforcement as well as treats in between their training. Since Borador is a happy dog they even enjoy their training hours with their owner. Remember they also adopt bad habits quickly as good habits so make sure to train them well.
