Origin and History
Ariege Pointer was originated in the Ariegeois region of France as a hunting dog. They were bred by hunters and they were suited to hunting wild hare and partridge.
Since they were only used by the hunters, they almost disappear during World War II. However, a group of breeders works on the breed’s survival in the 1990s which saved it from becoming extinct.
The United Kennel Club recognized this breed in 2006.
