Corkie is a small-sized dog breed that is the outcome of mixing two breeds: Yorkshire Terrier and Cocker Spaniel. The appearance depends on the genes it has obtained from its parents. The ears are floppy, the nose is black, and they have an alert and expressive eyes.

They are small, playful, active dog breed that does best as a family companion in the house of all age people. Due to their size, they are suitable in an apartment as long as regular walking and playing are involved.

Temperament, Behavior, and Personality

Temperament: The temperament of the Corkie is very loving, affectionate, and alert. They are very close with their people and enjoy being by their side most of the time either playing or just cuddling. They can be taken as a watchdog to as they are likely to sound an alarm when they hear or see something strange and warn their owner.

Corkie gets along with children very well as they love to play and make a great play partner for kids. They are good with unfamiliar kids too if they are socialized properly.

Although they are a friendly dog, they should be supervised while they are with small kids as kids tend to play rough and hurt your dog. Always teach your kids to behave around dogs and handle them gently.

Corgie is eager to please its owner, so training is not a difficult job to do. establish a firm and consistent leadership on them at an early age. They tend to respond well to positive methods of training, so reward them with delicious treats and lots of vocal praises. Never treat them harshly as it will scare them and they might not be able to catch the instruction you said. So, always be gentle even if they make some mistakes.
