The Polish Hunting Dog is a Large-sized dog breed that was used as a hunting dog for tracking game. It is known as Gończy Polski in Poland. It has a strong sense of smell and long legs that can take it miles following the prey.

The appearance of this Dog is strong and muscular with athletic built. They have a wide chest, strong back, and muscular legs that help them run while hunting. They are not suited for apartment life, so keep them in an open place where they can roam around and perform their regular physical exercise.

Origin and History

The Polish Hunting Dog was originated in Poland as a scenthound dog breed. It is said to be developed in the 13th century when Poland was covered with deep forest and hunting was common among nobilities.

After World War, they were still used for hunting game but the number was too low. While developing the Polish Hunting Dog again, they focused more on the stronger version, so they could hunt in rough terrain and mountains too in the eastern region of Poland.

The Polish Hunting Dog was recognized by the FCI under the Scenthound Group.
