Polish Tatra Sheepdog is a large-sized dog breed that has skill for both herding and guarding. Since they are herding and guarding dog, they need a family that is very active, loving, and experienced. They are not at all suited for a novice dog owner.

Origin and History

The Polish Tatra Sheepdog was originated in the Tarter region of Poland as a livestock guardian dog. It was very popular among mountain workers for centuries. They were not only kept for guarding livestock but also kept as a personal guard and guarding properties.

After the World War, the Polish Tatra Sheepdog was on the verge of extinction. However, the FCI started breeding more of the breeds in 1960 and soon the breed was revived.
