Serbian Tricolour Hound is a medium-sized dog breed that belongs to the hound type group. It was used as a running hound that used to run freely to seek game on their own. It was used on feral pig and other large game as well as fox and hare. Besides hunting, Serbian Tricolour Hound also makes an excellent family companion due to their friendly and loyal temperament.

Serbian Tricolour Hound is a strong and muscular dog breed with an angular muzzle and round forehead. The ears are long and triangular in shape while the eyes are almond-shaped and medium in size. They make a wonderful family pet with an experienced and active family.

Origin and History

The Serbian Tricolour Hound was originated in Serbia. It was originally called Yugoslavian Tricolour Hound which was later changed to Serbian Tricolour Hound in 1991. It was known as one of the many scenthounds and was simply considered as another Siberian Scent hound. However, the supporter of the breed fought for the independent recognition of the breed in 1946.

The FCI recognizes it as a separate breed in 1961 and is still popular in Siberia today.
