American Eskimo Diets and Supplements
The American Eskimo is a breed of the United States of America. It falls in the group of spitz family. I have three sizes; toy, miniature, and standard. The average height of the American Eskimo is 9-15 inches and the average weight is between 6-35 pounds
The American Eskimo is an active dog breed that needs proper regular diets to keep itself fit and healthy. So, here are some of the methods and ideas to feed your dog to provide them a healthy and happy life.
Diets and Nutrition for the American Eskimo
The American Eskimo needs a balanced diet to keep its body fit and away from different health problems. They need following balanced diets to meet up with their energy level.
Protein: Protein is a very basic need for dogs as it is a primary source of their energy. Many proteins diets have high calories in it which is not good for your American Eskimo. So only provide them with protein based diet in a limited amount. However, a puppy needs more calories than an adult dog so feed your puppy a little more than an adult dog. Protein can be obtained from meat, eggs, and also from different vegetables that are not toxic to dogs.
Fat: Fat is very important on your dog’s diet as it is good for your American Eskimo hair and skin. Since it is a furry dog, fat helps it to keep its coat shiny and in good condition. Fat is also one of the main sources of energy and not all fats are good for your dog. Overfeeding fatty food can lead to weight gain.
Water: Water is very important for a healthy life of your dog. It should be provided with a bowl of water beside it daily so that it can eat whenever it feels thirsty. Dogs cannot speak and ask for something they need, so always make sure to provide them with enough water. They need to be hydrated to live a happy and healthy life.
How Much Should You Feed Your American Eskimo
The American Eskimo is a dog with a high level of activity who needs to take diet as per its activity level. The amount of food you should give the puppy is around 1-2 cups per day in 2 portions. This amount will be enough as there will be some treats involved throughout the day. However, do not feed them more than required as it will only lead to their weight gain.
The adult American Eskimo needs to be fed 3-4 cups per day in 3 portions. If it is involved in regular vigorous activity, the amount of its regular diet should be increased. If they are given less then required they will become thin and if given more, they will become fat, which will invite many health problems in your dog.
Best Dog Food For Your American Eskimo
There are two types of dog food for your American Eskimo and they are dry and wet dog food. They need more dry dog food than wet as dry food contributes to building their gum and teeth stronger. However, wet dog food keeps them hydrated and keep their skin and hair healthy. Put some wet dog food with kibbles and feed your American Eskimo.
