Drever, also known as the Swedish Dachshund, is an energetic medium-sized dog breed.. Being energetic doesn’t mean feeding a large portion of food. Drever must be given adequate portion as they can gain weight easily that affects their health. Make a feeding routine and stick to eat keeping their meals in check.

For a better routine or feeding process consult your veterinarian as it changes from puppyhood to adulthood. Maintain a proper and balanced diet for their healthy lifestyle. Here are some methods and techniques to feed your dog.

Diets

Protein: Protein contains an ammonic acid that helps in building bones and muscle, tissue repair, and makes hair, skin healthy as well as shiny. They get protein from various sources like meat, fish, eggs, grains, oilseeds, and so on. Feed around 18-20% of protein to Drever in their daily diet.

Fats: Fats are the main source of energy that dogs gain from Cottage Cheese, Lean meat, Quinoa, Eggs, pork fat, chicken fat, and others. However, remember not to include too many fats in their diet as it can result in obesity in Drever. Add 5-8% of fats to their diet to keep them healthy.

Water: Like other nutrients, water is also very important in their diet on daily basis. It benefits their digestive system and helps to absorb nutrient that is gained from other foods. Place clean water in their reach and make sure it’s available to them throughout the day.

How Often You Feed You Drever Diets?

When it comes to feeding, always look at your dog’s age, weight, and activity level. Likewise, a puppy Drever needs 4 meals a day due to its growth and development phase. Then as they grow, decrease their feeding to 3 meals a day so, they won’t face obesity. Similarly, when they reach adulthood you can feed them 2 meals in a day along with treats in between training.

However, if your dog isn’t satisfied with 2 meals then you can divide that portion into four equal parts and feed them. Nevertheless, always remember not to overfeed them and make a feeding schedule. In addition, don’t leave their food out or give easy access as it doesn’t benefit them.

Supplements For Drever

Supplements must be given in case your dog isn’t getting enough from its daily diet. For instance, if you’re maintaining their diet and they get all the nutrients from the food then don’t feed supplements. As too much of the nutrients from either food or supplements can affect their health.
